Narooz Soliman (he/him) (b. 1985 Madison, Wisconsin, USA) is a Michigan-based artist and painter. His creative work, under the moniker NaroozPaints, includes sign painting, mural painting, and unconventional commercial property painting. His practice hopscotches industrial and fine arts with a scientific understanding of material and a playful instinct for color, line, and composition.

Trained as a classical oil painter in portraiture and landscape, Narooz’s creative work is also informed by 15 years of parallel experience as a commercial painter and faux finisher. He has painted historic commercial exteriors, restored the epoxy on outdoor modernist sculpture, and faux-finished restaurants, residences and theatrical sets. Narooz has also designed and painted building and window signage, and been commissioned for custom vehicle pinstriping and lettering. His favorite commissions combine these things – like the time he was asked to mural a house to look like a river or the time he was commissioned to restore the lettering and pinstriping an heirloom vintage Jeep.

Narooz earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from the University of North Florida, and his Master of Arts in Drawing and Painting on a fully-funded fellowship from the Department of Art and Design at Eastern Illinois University. He lives in Ypsilanti, Michigan and proudly drives a 1994 Ford pickup truck that he has brought back from the dead several times.
